Icaro International Film Festival, in its 29th edition, consolidates itself as a strategic platform for cultural diplomacy and a space for living memory. In commemorating three decades of the Peace Accords in Guatemala, we reaffirm that cinema is our fundamental tool for dialogue, healing the social fabric, and the full exercise of freedom of expression.
Our philosophy is based on three pillars of action:
- Peace: The foundation for democratic construction and the recognition of the "other" through the lens.
- Sovereignty: The claim to "Sovereignty of the Gaze" as an act of cultural resistance to protect our visual identity in a globalized world.
- Audiovisual Literacy: Empowering citizens to move from being passive spectators to active narrators of their own reality.
